Marcus Rashford’s free-kick vs Chelsea was just like Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says
Marcus Rashford’s stunning free-kick in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea reminded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The manager was full of praise for the forward, who scored both goals in the Carabao Cup triumph.
Michy Batshuayi 61st-minute equaliser cancelled out Rashford’s first-half penalty and the game appeared set for penalties until the 22-year-old scored a superb 30-yard free-kick to set up a game against Colchester in the quarter-finals.
“It’s very Cristiano-like, isn’t it?” Solskjaer said to MUTV.
“The boy has got nerves of steel. Takes a penalty, no problem. Steps up and hits the ball like he does and wins us the game, fantastic.

“Marcus has that strike in him. I’ve seen him in training so many times and it’s got to be hitting the target soon, you think, because he’s had a few efforts. Finally it goes in.”
Rashford was one of four academy graduates who started at Stamford Bridge, with Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay and Brandon Williams playing.

“We know we’re not the finished product, we’re a work in progress and we’ll keep trying to improve.
“We were excellent, with fast flowing football. That’s Manchester United. We’re trying to get back to that.”
